在美國加州一間高安樂死率的動物收容所，一隻比特犬正哀傷地哭泣，就算有人來了他也不像其他狗一樣熱情地搖尾巴，看到零食也只是聞一聞卻不吃，只是邊流淚邊看著欄杆外面。
他的名字是布魯國王 (Blue King)，簡稱布魯。原本他跟一家人生活在一起近1年，但那家人要搬家時決定不要帶著布魯一起，就在上個月將他送到Carson收容所。
他們拍下布魯的短片並上傳臉書，希望有人能領養布魯。幸運的是珍妮佛 (Jennifer McKay) 一看到這段令人心碎的影片後，立刻就決定要去看布魯。

珍妮佛一開始去看布魯的時候，布魯還是非常哀傷。她說：「他甚至完全不肯承認我。其他狗都看著我並搖尾巴，可是他不肯站起來，也不肯過來看我。很令人難過。」
珍妮佛也感覺到布魯還在等他不會回來的主人。「每一次有人來的時候你都能看出來，那就好像他還在找他們似的。就好像他知道他被丟在這裡了。」
珍妮佛決定要領養布魯，不過因為收容所還必須幫布魯做一些檢查，所以她沒辦法馬上把布魯接回家。在等待檢查結果的期間，珍妮佛又再次去看布魯，這次帶給他一個骨頭跟全新的狗床。
幸好當珍妮佛三顧茅廬時，布魯也終於被打動了，「他直接走向我！」
距離初次見面一週後，珍妮佛終於可以接布魯回家。沒想到一踏出鐵籠，布魯的態度立刻180度大轉變！珍妮佛開玩笑說：「他騙了我。我還以為我領養了一隻冷靜放鬆的狗，但他一踏出狗籠就立刻超亢奮。他也很享受坐車，一直想把頭探出窗外。」
到家後珍妮佛幫布魯洗了個澡，然後帶他出門散步。回家後布魯就立刻在客廳沙發上睡著了！
珍妮佛說：「他看起來馬上就把這裡當作家了。他在沙發上有自己的位子。」
除了睡覺外，布魯也很喜歡被揉肚肚、蹭人還有照鏡子。珍妮佛說：「他超熱衷看著鏡中的自己。我們有一個跟他差不多高的梳妝台，他會坐在那裡看著自己笑並搖尾巴。」
雖然布魯還需要學一些禮儀還有怎麼繫狗繩散步，但珍妮佛很有自信這隻曾經傷心流淚的狗很快就會沒問題了！
珍妮佛說：「他看起來就是單純地開心。我昨天下班回家時他直接奔向我。他是隻很棒的狗，我超興奮他會成為我們家中的一份子。」
布魯幸運地找到了家，不過還有很多像布魯一樣被拋棄的狗狗在等待主人，他們也跟寵物店的狗一樣可愛，甚至可能更貼心親人！所以如果你想找個毛小孩陪伴，可以考慮用領養代替購買喔！
